The changes made in ApplicationXtender (AX)8.0 make it a much more prominent member of the EMC Documentum portfolio, targeted to the unique needs of the line of business user.
The new ApplicationXtender 8.0 release offers significant enhancements:
- Ease of use, administration and remote management
- Improved performance and scalability with RESTful services
- Broadened support for authentication engines within the organization and beyond
User Interface
The user interface is completely refreshed, streamlined, and easy to use, offering the full experience regardless of browser. Browsers now supported include Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, and Mozilla Firefox. Navigation is intuitive, with no user retraining necessary, and an improved data grid with filtering options
enables customization of the user interface.
A key goal of ApplicationXtender 8.0 is to make life simpler than ever before for administrators. A single web-based interface for system administration eliminates the need for a desktop client in most cases.
Administration functions are aggregated, providing a view of the entire environment. Modern license management provides context of what’s happening in the system, and support for application reporting enables chargebacks—especially useful for large organizations.
Performance & Scalability
A true multi-platform approach allows development of applications for any customer, on any browser. Stateless and sessionless capabilities improve performance, enabling support for a growing number of user requests without degradation in response time and reducing the complexity of existing integrations. Using RESTful Services, web
services can be built that are lightweight, easily maintained, and scalable. The design is extremely efficient and mobile-friendly.
Authentication
ApplicationXtender supports single sign-on technologies using SAML-based authentication tokens. Central authentication support with Microsoft ADFS 2.0 enables integrators to quickly and easily deploy
ApplicationXtender in a cloud-based solution. Simple deployment makes it easier to keep up with OS, application and server-side updates, allowing for faster certification cadence and greater support for the latest database and server software.
